‘Style from A to Zoe’ Giveaway!

June 20, 2008

Everyone loves a freebie, right?

Well good news, my pretties, because I am pleased to announce that I have a copy of celeb stylist Rachel Zoe’s utterly fabulous style bible, Style from A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty, & Everything Glamour, to give away to one lucky reader!

It’s super-easy to enter the competition — all you have to do is tell me what your style goal (or goals) are for the rest of the year! So, it might be something like:

  • Wear more colour, or
  • Restrict swearing & practice proper etiquette, or
  • Dress in head-to-toe black every day of the week, or
  • Invest in good quality jewellery!

It’s totally up to you! Whatever tickles your fancy! Don’t be afraid to think outside the box — remember, style doesn’t have to be restricted to clothing. Think inner style AND outer style! Your goal may relate to the way you conduct yourself, the image you project to the world, the way you handle situations, etc!

Leave your insights in the ‘comments’ section under the ‘Style vs. Fashion’ article! You’ve got a week to send in your answers — I’ll be randomly selecting the winner next Friday the 27th June!

(’Randomly selecting’ refers to the extremely technical method of closing one’s eyes with a witness present, pressing the up & down arrows so that the cursor scrolls through the comments section — until the planets align & the moon is at the correct angle to the sun — and then ceasing aforementioned scrolling. Just in case you were wondering).

Get commenting lovelies!

Big ol’ freebie lurve,

Rach xxx

Hello there! My style goals for the rest of the year arrrre(excuse my piratey-ness) to:
    - Wear more dresses/skirts. Begone jeans!
    - Host more dressup get togethers
    - Stop procrastinating about getting glasses & find decent frames!
    - Wear more flowers in my hair and learn how to do pincurls properly.

That’s all. Like your colourful site :)

  2. Stella me hearty! (hehe, couldn’t resist!) — YAY! Those goals sound AWESOME! Especially the bit about wearing more flowers in your hair! Love it :)

Hey, if you don’t mind, can you please repost this comment under the ‘Style vs. Fashion’ article located here…..http://brightsidelover.com/2008/06/12/style-vs-fashion/

I’ll be using the comments section from that article to randomly select the winner & definitely want to make sure you are in the running! Thanks sweetie! xxx

  3. Kelly Sambell Says:

My goal is to purchase 5 simple, classic pieces to add to my wardrobe: Crisp white dress shirt, black fitted slacks, a knee length cocktail dress, a great pair of boots and a waist length stylish jacket.
    :)
Thanks for the site, it’s fabulous!

  4. Kel — ooh, I like! Great goals! I am definitely hearing you on the boots… I’m actually currently on the search for an amazing pair! xxx

  5. Harrie Says:

my style goals for 2008 are to:

-carry a smile as my best accessory
-replace my glasses and get trendy new ones (i ran over these ones in my car and they are barely holding on..)
    -try a new hair colour!
-be more spontaneous with my fashion purchases
-invest in fabrics and get classic style dresses made for fancy occassions so i can forward the legacy to my children!

  6. Harrie - YAY, i especially love your first point… A smile is an accessory that goes with EVERY outfit! xxx

  7. Claire Says:

Okay, so this is pretty sad but i’ll tell you anyway…my goal is to try and remain fashionable whilst not spending a single cent on fashion until september. im saving for a holiday so any new additions to my wardrobe before then are going to be via my mums plentiful store of 70’s & 80’s clothes and the sewing machine!! I will try and distract the on-lookers eyes by wearing big curly hair (yes, just when i had perfected straighting my mane, my hairdresser informs me that straight hair is OUT and curly hair is IN). Wish me luck xxx

  8. Lara Says:

My style guide for the rest of year…..
Humm… well this is the year im turing 30 so my style needs to change alittle to match the new digit in front of my age.. eeekk…

    - Become one with high heels
    - Start getting into tailored black/grey pants with nice thin belts.
    - Out with the hair down and in with new up styles.!
    - Be positive in the hardest and most darkest times (if they decide to arise.!)
    - and become creative with eye make-up…

    Style guide for 2008

Ok I will try my hardest to wear something other than a cotton singlet with jeans, but no guarantees lovelies as I am a little poor.

I will wear high heals more often and make an attempt to keep them on for the whole night.

    Wish me a miracle xoxoxo

  10. Judi Blinco Says:

I am going to bring a little bit of sunshine to my wardrobe and try hard to limit my wear of my favourite BLACK pieces by adding more floral and pretty femine pieces. Without going to pretty I will team all my “new or second hand” florals with some chunky accessories or biker boots and waisted belts to add an edge.

I will be making two fab purchases to see me out for the year:
    1. The first one is a gorgeous floral dress with a puffy skirt from Portmans (not yet in store). I must say florals is a first for me, and although the dress sounds it may not be very versatile in fact I will be able to create over five new looks with it with my already existing wardrobe.
2.And the second one is definately gladiator heels from Zoe Wittner - my choice of gladiator heels, well that is a must for every city girl, I would even go as far as wearing them with my tracksuit pants….well not quite but certainly everything else.

Oh actually, I also just purchased two body suits online that will be arriving soon, the neckline and backline are very flattering and they will be staple pieces for many years to come.

Love everyones new style goals xo

  11. Claire -I would SO love to see your mum’s 70’s & 80’s collection!! WOOO!!! And your hair will look HOT curled! Super hot!

Lara - eye make-up YAY — we have spoken about this actually, white shadow ring a bell?!

Steph - you are so cute! Esp. the last bit about keeping your heels on! hee!

Judi - I SOOO want a hot bodysuit in black with a super low back…. WHERE did you purchase from?! haha, you so have to send me pics of you + gladiator heels + tracksuit pants! :)

  12. kim Says:

living in london is a huge fashion inspiration…

there are a few things that i am going to try this year as a result of the new ’surroundings’…

1 - you can’t wear heels in this country (you walk too much)so i have to try to make flat shoes fashionable - very hard as they are some BEAUTIFUL heels on the shelves!

2 - scour the markets (espcially portabello) for accessories and clothes that are rare and unique (i already have a few pieces and i get comments on them when ever i wear/use them).

3 - buy more pieces that can be layered (weather is so bloody up and down here that i need to be able to turn summer pieces into winter pieces too)

4 - learn to curl my hair…it will be a miracle if i can get this to work on my hair…

    wish me luck
    xx

  13. Karen Ekholm Says:

I want to be trimmer, slimmer, fitter and trendier.

  14. Amelie Paget Says:

I want to learn to dance tango confidently wearing red stilettoes, looking tres chic with black dress split up to thigh!

  15. Kim - why don’t you splash out on some hot (heeless!) boots? Oh, and isn’t it funny how people always comment on that random vintage/ rare find… I used to have a black lace & satin camisole that cost me 50 cents (honestly!) and every time I wore it, someone asked me about it… Strangers in shopping centres even came up & asked! I think people have a radar for “different” stuff!

Karen Ekholm - i bet you are all those things already honey! :D

Amelie Paget - WOW, that is an awesome style goal! Tango style = hot, hot, hot! You must send photo’s!

  18. Emma Says:

    My goal is very simple.
Give birth, lose weight and get out of the tragic maternity clothes i have been wearing for the last 4 years!

  19. Millsy Says:

Goals… Oh so many goals to add to one lil’ comments space. Well here’s a snippet…
Clothes: One must cease caring about what others may perceive..
One must purchase a leather jacket..
    One must purchase more dress..
One must purchase more unusual and original accessories (to add to the already ridiculous collection..
One must wear older accessories that have not been even looked at since their one and only debut..

LIFE: One must learn to budget..
One must learn to be tolerant of other personalities that may not exactly gel with one’s own..
One needs to remain calm and learn to react appropriately..
One is to fine a hot male that treats one as a princess should be treated..
One must go on a holiday..

  22. Jo Says:

Well my goal is to conquer the art of the GHD curl
I am currently in training and will be strutting the streets with my new doo very soon!

Oh and i am on the prowl for a new hair dresser as my one and only plus my besty has just resigned:-(
So if anyone has any recommendations PLEASE HELP!!!

  23. Janice Says:

I need to allow some spending on myself in the budget rather than saving every penny and buy a few good quality items that will last. Then I will feel better even if it does take me a bit longer to reach my goals.

  24. Catherine Says:

Ditch my boring black frames for some designer style and colour to make me look 10 years younger!

  25. Здорово!

  26. Конкретно и понятно.
